What are the skillset challenges in the ESDM sector with the kind of demand arising in our country?
As demand in Electronics, Semiconductor manufacturing is increasing in India, the demand for right skillset is also increasing in the field of electronic manufacturing, PCB manufacturing/assembling, Semiconductor design, VLSI design, FPGA, Embedded System, Drone manufacturing. Skilled Manpower from the academia-specialized skilled training programs in these areas with the support of the industry to cater to the needs.

The Odisha Government’s Electronics Policy 2021 sets out the framework for the Electronics sector in Odisha and position’s Odisha as an attractive destination for the electronics industry by providing class leading infrastructure and policy initiatives. Adoption of innovation and emerging technologies supported by availability of skilled workforce, a favorable ecosystem for growth and development of the electronics industry in the State.

What should be the meaningful change for a strong Industry- Academia connect?
Academic institutions should create infrastructure as per the current technology demand, which would create skilled workforce for the industry. Must incorporate the industry standard curriculum with the standard study pattern especially the practical based approach to solve industry challenges. Target industry may conduct specific training/skill development programs in Academic institutions on emerging technology areas and develop the workforce around these emerging technologies which shall give them enormous opportunities.
What is your advice for the budding electronics engineers?
Adopt hands-on learning related to the academic theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Create DIY electronics innovative stuffs. Always stay updated, and upgrade oneself with the knowledge of emerging technologies, innovations, and future technologies. Refer electronic news, articles, magazines etc
